It takes a lot of money to fund families through River Kids and every little bit helps.

Here are some examples of the costs of having a child with a health crisis:

One day gas credit for medical travel
$70 - $100
Round trip to Vancouver on BC Ferries, including gas (no hotel)
Round trip to Nanaimo Hospital or Victoria Hospital, food and three nights hotel
$800 - $1,200
One week of accommodations in Vancouver near BC Childrens Hospital
$1,700 - $2,300

As you can see, the cost of having a sick child can be astronomical.  Keep in mind that many of these families are required to be away for weeks, months or even a year at a time to have access to specialized medical care.  While parents are at their child’s bedside, the bills at home continue to come in.  Mortgages, car payments, utilities and often childcare for other children can add greatly to the stress of families already in crisis.

Please consider making a donation to help local families in crisis.

Every bit helps.
